Haysiyet Star Kerem Alışık Speaks at MIPCOM 2026 in Cannes

The Kanal D drama's lead actor spoke to CNN Türk at the Cannes television market.

Kerem Alışık, the lead actor of the Kanal D drama Haysiyet, visited the broadcaster’s stand at MIPCOM 2026 in Cannes and spoke to CNN Türk on 13 October. He described the series as a story built on universal values. He also said Turkish drama has gained real momentum abroad.

MIPCOM is one of the world’s largest television content markets. Broadcasters and producers use it to present new shows to international buyers. Kanal D brought its new-season drama Haysiyet (the Turkish word for dignity or honour) to this showcase.

What Kerem Alışık Said About Haysiyet

Alışık plays Sadık Karlıova. According to CNN Türk, he said the series carries values that travel across languages. He compared dignity to laughter, which people understand the same way everywhere.

He listed dignity, justice, mercy and courage as feelings that should mean the same thing in every language. He added that a person may lose everything, but losing dignity leaves nothing more to lose.

Alışık also explained why he accepted the role. He described Sadık as a devoted father who clung to life through hard work and gave himself to his family. He said the themes of class differences and social values drew him to the project.

Turkish Series and the Export Market

Alışık was positive about the international position of Turkish television. He said Turkish series now hold an important place worldwide. He was glad that Turkish producers can sell their work abroad and take part in the global market.

CNN Türk says the series will find its place on the world stage. The report does not name any buyer, territory or sales deal for Haysiyet. Readers should treat the international reach as an ambition stated at the fair, not as a confirmed sale.

The show itself is a Süreç Film production for Kanal D, according to Turkish press coverage of its launch. It was reportedly filmed in Istanbul’s historic Balat neighbourhood, according to the Turkish outlet GZT.

Why the MIPCOM Stage Matters for Turkish Drama

Turkish television is best known abroad for historical epics and family dramas. A contemporary story like Haysiyet shows another side of the industry. CNN Türk describes the series as a tale of family bonds, justice and honesty told with a Yeşilçam flavour. Yeşilçam is the name for the classic Turkish film industry, a term often used for its emotional, family-centred storytelling.

Whether Haysiyet finds foreign buyers will become clear only through announced distribution deals. For now, the confirmed detail is that Kanal D put the series in front of international buyers in Cannes, with its lead actor present.
