Burak Özçivit Takes “Land of the Sun” to MIPCOM Cannes
The actor will visit the ATV stand at MIPCOM Cannes on 12 October.
Burak Özçivit will travel to MIPCOM Cannes next week to present his new ATV drama “Land of the Sun” (Güneşin Doğduğu Yer), according to Türkiye Today. The actor, known to international viewers for Kuruluş Osman, plays Kenan Kozan in the series. The visit points to the show’s hopes of reaching buyers beyond Türkiye.
MIPCOM is one of the world’s major television content markets, where broadcasters and distributors negotiate programme sales. This year it runs from 12 to 15 October.
Özçivit’s Cannes schedule
Türkiye Today reports that Özçivit will visit the ATV stand on 12 October. That evening he will join an ATV event for senior channel and platform executives from around the world. There he is expected to meet buyers and the international press.
He will not stay for the whole market. The report says he returns to the set the following day to keep filming. Producer Burak Sağyaşar will accompany him in Cannes.
What “Land of the Sun” is about
The drama premiered on ATV on 17 September and airs on Thursdays at 8 p.m. The story begins in Germany and then moves to the Turkish city of Adana. It follows Kenan, the son of the powerful Kozan family, and Leyla Breger, a young woman of German-Turkish heritage played by Beyza Gümülcine. Their love story unfolds against old family rivalries.
Tims&B produces the series. Yıldız Tunç wrote the screenplay, and Çağrı Vila Lostuvalı directs. The cast also includes Sibel Taşçıoğlu as Kenan’s mother, Celadet Kozan, along with Devrim Yakut, Görkem Sevindik and Hilal Anay.
Why the Cannes visit matters to viewers
Turkish dramas often reach international audiences through sales at markets like MIPCOM. A lead actor appearing in person can help a broadcaster draw attention from foreign buyers. Özçivit’s profile abroad comes from “Endless Love” (Kara Sevda) and the historical epic Kuruluş Osman, in which he played the title role.
The source does not say which companies or territories are in talks for the series. ATV has also not announced any sales in the report. Viewers who want to revisit his historical work can find Kuruluş Osman episodes with English subtitles on our site.
