“Tell Me Troy” Mini-Series Sets a Love Story in Ancient Troy
Go Türkiye wraps filming on a Troy-inspired romance shot across Çanakkale, Balıkesir and İzmir.
Go Türkiye has finished filming “Tell Me Troy,” a mini-series that sets a modern romance against the myths of the Northern Aegean. The Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA) says the production draws on Homer’s “Iliad” and “Odyssey.” It uses them to introduce international viewers to Troy and nearby heritage sites.
Storymagez produced the series. Emre Kavuk and Mustafa Ugur Yagcioglu directed it. Halit Ozgur Sari plays Aras, and Ozge Yagiz plays Bade.
What the “Tell Me Troy” story follows
The plot centres on a group of film students who leave Istanbul for the Northern Aegean. They want ideas for their graduation projects. While they write their screenplays, they run into unexpected events inspired by the two Homeric epics.
Aras and Bade share an unfinished romance. According to TGA, that relationship begins to take a new direction as the journey continues. The story mixes the characters’ personal experiences with local mythology and cultural heritage.
Filming locations across Çanakkale, Balıkesir and İzmir
The crew shot the series in three provinces: Çanakkale, Balıkesir and İzmir. The listed locations include ancient Troy, Assos, the Kaz Mountains, Antandros, Cunda, Bergama and Foça.
TGA says these places are more than backdrops. They form part of the characters’ journey and show the region’s archaeological sites, landscapes and traditions. A Turkish-language report on the project, published before filming, placed the main focus on Çanakkale.
Why the Go Türkiye mini-series matters
“Tell Me Troy” belongs to the Go Türkiye Mini-Series initiative. The programme promotes destinations through scripted stories instead of traditional travel advertising. TGA says it has released 10 mini-series so far. It reports about 10.5 billion impressions and 6.5 billion views. These are the agency’s own figures, and I could not check them independently.
For fans of Turkish television, the project is a different kind of period storytelling. It is a contemporary romance, not a historical epic. It uses Homer’s poems as inspiration, so it should be read as fiction and not as a historical account of Troy. Homer’s epics are literary works, and the series presents its own story around them.
The sources do not give a premiere date or a broadcast platform. TGA has said only that filming is complete.
