Elçin Sangu and Ertan Saban to Star in New Turkish Series ‘Cevher’

The popular actress returns to national television alongside Ertan Saban in Show TV's adaptation of the hit detective format HPI.

Elçin Sangu is making her highly anticipated return to national television alongside Ertan Saban in “Cevher”, Show TV’s upcoming Turkish adaptation of the hit French detective series “HPI” (High Intellectual Potential).

Sangu will play the titular character, Cevher, a mother of three with an IQ of 160 whose extraordinary mind helps solve complex crimes. Saban, who recently appeared in popular dramas such as “Gelsin Hayat Bildiği Gibi” and “Kötü Kan”, will portray the disciplined Police Inspector Mert Kara. Their paths cross after Cevher spots a critical detail in a murder case that the authorities completely missed.

A Fresh Start After Production Changes

The official casting announcement follows a period of behind-the-scenes adjustments for the project. Initially, actress Özgü Namal and director Neslihan Yeşilyurt were attached to the series before departing, while Songül Öden was also reportedly in talks for the lead role.

With Sangu and Saban now officially confirmed, production is moving forward steadily. The series is being produced by Öner Arslanel for Fabrika Yapım, with Yüksel Aksu taking over as director and Burcu Yılmaz writing the screenplay.

Adapting a Global Hit

“Cevher” is based on the globally successful French format “HPI”, which also inspired the recent American remake “High Potential”. The Turkish adaptation will maintain the core premise, blending crime-solving with comedy and emotional depth.

The storyline focuses heavily on the dynamic between the unconventional, highly intelligent Cevher and the strict, rule-following Inspector Kara. Their contrasting personalities are expected to provide both comedic moments and compelling drama. As they work together to solve complex cases, Cevher will also be forced to confront hidden truths from her own past.

While Show TV has yet to announce an official premiere date, the network has confirmed that the series will air soon. The return of Elçin Sangu, best known internationally for her beloved role as Defne in “Kiralık Aşk”, has already generated significant excitement among fans eager to see her take on such a unique and dynamic character.
