Kazım Koyuncu Biopic Star Sings “Ben” on Birthday Tribute

Cem Yiğit Üzümoğlu recorded "Ben" for Kazım Koyuncu's birthday ahead of the film.

Cem Yiğit Üzümoğlu, who plays the Black Sea musician Kazım Koyuncu in the film Kazım: Yarım Kalan, recorded the song “Ben” in a studio on 7 November, Koyuncu’s birthday. The Kazım Koyuncu biopic released the music video through its official social media accounts, according to Hürriyet.

The recording works as a tribute to the late singer and a preview of how the film wants to present him. It also arrives about eight weeks before the planned cinema release.

What the Kazım Koyuncu biopic released

Hürriyet reports that Üzümoğlu went into the studio and performed “Ben”, a song closely linked with Koyuncu’s memory. The clip was shared as a birthday gesture rather than as a formal soundtrack announcement. The film’s team has not said whether the recording will appear in the finished film.

The film’s poster was also published, along with Üzümoğlu’s first look as Koyuncu. Özcan Alper directs the project.

Cast, producers and release plan

Alongside Üzümoğlu, the cast includes Şifanur Gül, Serra Arıtürk, Aslıhan Kapanşahin, Ayça Bingöl, Fikret Kuşkan, Taner Birsel and Şevval Sam. Nar Film, ARÇ Productions and Aktan Görsel Sanatlar produced the film together.

Hürriyet says the film opens in Turkish cinemas on 1 January. Medyascope’s trailer report gives the date as 1 January 2027. Release dates can still shift, so readers should watch for official confirmation closer to the time.

Why the film matters to Turkish music audiences

Koyuncu is remembered as a voice of Black Sea music. Earlier reports on the production say filming took about eight weeks and covered Istanbul, Artvin and Rize, in the region his music is tied to. A first trailer appeared in late October.

Turkish cinema has a growing run of films about musicians and cultural figures. Viewers who follow Turkish dramas will also recognise several names in the cast. For now, the studio recording is the clearest sign of the tone the filmmakers are aiming for: a tribute to the music first.
